Cheju United claimed a convincing 3-1 away victory against Chonbuck Motors in the K-League 1 Regular Season on Friday evening. Emerson Negueba scored all three goals for the visitors, while Lee Seung-Woo replied for the hosts. The result sees Cheju United remain in eighth place with 24 points from 19 games.
Cheju United took the lead in the twenty-third minute when Emerson Negueba converted a penalty. The home side had made a change just before that, bringing on Kim Shin-Jin in the seventeenth minute. Chonbuck Motors looked to respond but could not find an equaliser before the break.
The second half opened with Chonbuck Motors pressing for a goal. Lee Seung-Woo found the net in the fifty-ninth minute to level the score. The home side made several changes around the hour mark, bringing on Choi Byung-wook, G. Paulauskas, Lee Chang-Min and Jo In-jung in quick succession. Maeng Seong-Ung received a yellow card in the sixty-seventh minute.
Emerson Negueba restored Cheju United's advantage in the seventy-first minute. The visitors showed composure in front of goal and punished Chonbuck Motors when they needed to. Negueba completed his hat-trick in the ninety-eighth minute, closing the game out after Kang Sang-Yoon came on for the hosts. Yu In-Soo and A. Compagno both picked up yellow cards in the closing stages.
The three points move Cheju United closer to the top half of the table. Chonbuck Motors remain third with 30 points but will be disappointed to have let a lead slip. Negueba's performance highlighted the visitors' ability to take chances when they matter most.
