Panathinaikos beat Kifisia 2-0 in the third round of the Greek Cup on Tuesday. The away side took the lead from a penalty and added a second goal near the end before Kifisia pushed for a reply.
Kifisia made changes early. G. Doiranlis was replaced in the twentieth minute. Panathinaikos responded with V. Manganas and M. Patiras coming on for the visitors in the sixty-second and sixty-third minutes.
The match changed in the seventy-sixth minute when A. Ounahi scored from the spot. Kifisia brought on S. Kontouris and A. Tetteh in the eighty-third minute as they looked to get back into the game. A. Ounahi added a second goal in the eighty-ninth minute, and that was enough to see it out.
Panathinaikos had the ball more and moved it around. They completed 565 passes against Kifisia's 150. The visitors took four shots on target to Kifisia's three, and both sides hit the same accuracy rate of thirty-three percent. Kifisia made more clearances, eighteen to twelve, but could not create a big chance.
The result puts Panathinaikos through in the competition. Kifisia now have a record that includes a goalless draw with Levadiakos and a heavy defeat at the hands of Panathinaikos earlier this week. The scoreline and the goal difference tell the story of a game the visitors controlled without needing to be dominant in front of goal.
