Sparta Prague Women took a commanding step towards the group stage with a 4-1 victory over Farul Constanta in the first qualifying round finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League on 23 September. And here's the thing about the opening exchanges — Sparta pressed high and forced Farul into mistakes. Possession sat at 59 per cent in favour of the hosts, and their 38 per cent shot accuracy produced nine efforts on target. Farul managed only three shots on target from 77 attacks — a ratio that explained why the scoreline felt appropriate rather than inflated.
This result puts Sparta Prague in a strong position for the next phase, while Farul will need to reflect on a performance that lacked cohesion when it mattered most.
