Slavia Prague dispatched Warnsdorf 5-1 in the Round of 32 of the Cup on Tuesday evening. The visitors had the game won inside twenty minutes, with I. Schranz firing twice in the opening quarter. By then, Warnsdorf were already playing catch-up against a side that knew exactly what it wanted.
Early dominance
Schranz opened the scoring in the fifth minute and added another five minutes later, before A. Rajnoha and M. Konecny rounded off a blistering first half. The hosts dug in but simply could not contain the movement, conceding three goals before half-time. And here's the thing — Slavia didn't need to raise the tempo to keep going.
The second half brought substitutions from both sides, with Warnsdorf attempting to stabilise what had become a rout. E. Pitak, S. Boryshpolets and J. Emmer came on at the break, but the damage was already done. Slavia continued to press, and M. Lopez added a sixth goal in the sixtieth minute.
The statistics tell the story without embellishment. Slavia enjoyed 57 per cent possession and registered eight shots on target compared to Warnsdorf's four. The visitors registered 104 attacks against 93 for the hosts, with corners also telling the tale — nine to four in Slavia's favour. Three yellow cards for Warnsdorf, none for the visitors, said enough about the nature of the contest.
This result sends Slavia into the next round with momentum after a mixed run of form, including a defeat by Lens on Friday. Warnsdorf, meanwhile, return to domestic duty with little to show for a Cup tie they were never in. The scoreline was fair, even if the margin felt comfortable for the visitors from the start.
