About the player
Alfredo Ramón Amarilla is not a name Paraguayan football supporters need explaining twice, if only to rule out confusion: an older namesake of the same name won caps for Paraguay's national team around the turn of the century, while this Amarilla, born in Ciudad del Este, has yet to add a senior international appearance to his record. He started out at Tacuary, where he played in the Copa Paraguay and the Primera División and was included in the squad for the 2023 Copa Sudamericana campaign.
The spell did not last: Arsenal were relegated to the Segunda División, and Amarilla left the club by mutual consent in December of that year. A loan to Sarmiento de Junín followed in January 2024, covering the rest of the season before his contract situation opened up again.
In January 2025 he signed for Aurora in Bolivia as a free agent, taking the number 5 shirt as a central midfielder. It is a role that has taken him through three countries in as many years without ever settling long at one club.
