About the player
Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi came through the Tiki-Taka Academy before Swedish club IFK Göteborg brought him to Europe in 2018. He stayed three seasons and lifted the Swedish Cup in 2019–20, starting and playing all 120 minutes of the final against Malmö FF.
Royal Antwerp signed him in 2021 for a fee of around €1 million, and it was in Belgium that Yusuf had his best spell. He was part of the Antwerp side that completed the domestic double in 2022–23, winning both the Belgian Pro League title and the Belgian Cup. A loan spell with the club's reserve side, Young Reds Antwerp, in 2023 brought two appearances.
New England Revolution signed him in August 2024 for a reported fee of around $2 million.
Yusuf has represented Nigeria at senior level, and was part of the squad that reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where Nigeria finished as runners-up. He has earned caps for the national team and scored international goals.
