About the player
Dairon Asprilla's signature moment came against San Jose Earthquakes: a bicycle kick that earned him a nomination for the 2021 FIFA Puskás Award while he was playing for Portland Timbers. He joined Alianza Petrolera, where he made 71 appearances and scored 22 goals, helping the club win promotion to the Categoría Primera A in 2013.
He was part of the squad that won the 2015 MLS Cup, an unused substitute in the final itself but a scorer in the Western Conference Final that got Portland there. A brief loan to Millonarios in 2016 produced 16 appearances and 2 goals before he returned to Portland the following year, staying until July 2024.
In July 2024 he returned to Atlético Nacional as a free agent, winning the Categoría Primera A Clausura title and the Copa Colombia that same year. In July 2026 he moved on again, joining Bolivian club Bolívar on a free transfer , where he has made 6 appearances and scored 3 goals in the Primera División so far. Asprilla has not made a senior appearance for the Colombia national team.
