Facundo Gabriel Zabala

Facundo Zabala came through Rosario Central's academy before moving abroad, joining Alajuelense in Costa Rica in 2019. There he obtained Costa Rican nationality and won the Liga FPD Apertura in 2020, staying with the club until 2021.

A free transfer took him to APOEL in Cyprus, and in July 2022 Venezia signed him for a fee of €100,000. His time in Italy amounted to a single league appearance before he was loaned out to Olimpia in Paraguay in January 2023. Olimpia made the move permanent for €1 million in December of that year. It was there that Zabala established himself, making 109 appearances, scoring four goals and setting up 15 more between 2023 and 2025. He won the Torneo Clausura 2024 and the CONCACAF Champions Cup with the club, adding to a Liga Concacaf title already won at Alajuelense in 2022.

In June 2025 he was loaned to Al-Ain for the FIFA Club World Cup, where he played against Juventus and Manchester City. The following month, Independiente paid USD 2.25 million for 70% of his economic rights and signed him to a contract running until December 2028. He made his debut for the club on 27 July 2025, against Gimnasia La Plata in the Torneo Clausura. Zabala has yet to be capped by the Argentina senior national team.
