Gastón Alberto Togni

Gastón Togni came through the youth ranks at Independiente and made his professional debut on 18 March 2017, in a goalless draw with San Martín de San Juan. He stayed at the club until 2022, appearing 47 times in the league, and was part of the squad that won the 2017 Copa Sudamericana. He was also capped once for Argentina's under-20 side against Uruguay and featured in the under-23 squad that won the 2020 Pre-Olympic Tournament.

A loan spell at Defensa y Justicia in the 2018-19 season, in which he scored three goals in 18 appearances, was the first sign of his potential. He returned there in September 2022 on an 18-month loan with an option to buy, and the option was exercised early, in September 2023, for a total fee of $1.2 million.

In July 2025 he moved on loan to Pachuca in Mexico, where he scored three goals in 18 appearances, including a winner against Houston Dynamo in the Leagues Cup, before returning to Defensa y Justicia.

In January 2026, Togni joined Peñarol on loan. He started the Supercopa Uruguaya final against Nacional, which Peñarol won on penalties, and opened his account for the club in the 2026 Apertura opener against Montevideo City Torque, in a 3-1 win. His form dipped afterwards — one goal and two assists in 25 matches — and the loan was ended by mutual consent in August 2026. Days later, on 5 August, he joined Platense on loan until the end of the year, with an option to buy.
