José Gabriel Cevallos Enríquez

José Gabriel Cevallos Enríquez grew up with the family name already carved into Barcelona SC's history: his father, José Francisco Cevallos, was a goalkeeper the club still speaks of with reverence and later served as its president. The son followed him into goal, coming through the youth ranks of both LDU Quito and Barcelona SC and making his senior debut for the Ecuadorian giants in 2016. What followed was three years largely spent on the bench or as third-choice keeper, without a single league appearance, while Barcelona won the domestic title that year without him featuring for the first team.

His path to regular football ran through loan and free-transfer moves rather than a breakthrough at his boyhood club. A 2019 loan to América de Quito brought his professional debut, and a move to Olmedo in 2020 gave him his first sustained run of matches, followed by spells at Guayaquil City and then Macará, where his appearances grew again through 2024 and 2025. In January 2026 he returned to Barcelona SC as a free agent.

At international level, Cevallos represented Ecuador at the U-17 World Cup in 2015 and the U-20 World Cup in 2017. His closest brush with the senior side came in September 2021, when he was called up as an emergency replacement for Hernán Galíndez ahead of a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, though he did not take the pitch. He has yet to win a senior cap for Ecuador.
