Luca Nicolás Orellano

Orellano came up through Vélez Sarsfield, joining the club's academy while still in primary school and working his way through the youth ranks before breaking into the first team in 2018. He stayed there for four seasons before a move abroad, joining CR Vasco da Gama in a deal worth up to US$ 6 million for a majority stake in his economic rights.

His time in Brazil gave way to a loan to FC Cincinnati in early 2024, a switch to Major League Soccer. Cincinnati made the move permanent by the end of that year and, two months later, extended his contract through to 2029. It was at Cincinnati that Orellano produced the moment he is best known for: a 70-metre free-kick against CF Montreal that was voted MLS Goal of the Year for 2024. The same season brought a place among the MLS All-Stars and Player of the Matchday honours on more than one occasion. None of that individual recognition, though, came with a team trophy — he has yet to win a major title or domestic cup with any of his clubs.

In January 2026, Cincinnati sold him on to CF Monterrey for a reported US$ 4.5 million, with Orellano signing a four-year contract taking him through to the end of 2030.
