About the player
Marcelo Camargo is a product of Vélez Sarsfield's youth academy, having joined the club at the age of eight. He worked his way up through the ranks and featured for the reserve side, Vélez II, in the Torneo Proyección, where he won the Copa LPF Proyección Inicial in the 2023/24 season and the Trofeo de Campeones in 2023. He signed his first professional contract with Vélez Sarsfield in February 2025.
In June 2026, the midfielder moved on loan to Sportivo Ameliano in Paraguay, with the deal running without a purchase option. The move came at the request of Ameliano coach Roberto Nanni, who has built ties with Vélez Sarsfield over time.
Born in José León Suárez, Camargo is a right-footed midfielder who spent his formative years learning the game at Vélez Sarsfield before testing himself abroad for the first time with the move to Paraguay.
