Miguel Benitez

Miguel Benítez came through the youth ranks at Club Guaraní, joining the first-team squad in December 2017 and staying on the books into 2023. Across that spell he made more than a hundred appearances for the club and scored three goals, and he collected a Copa Paraguay winner's medal with them in 2018.

He left on a free transfer at the start of 2024, moving to Cerro Porteño, where he spent a single season. His time there was brief in terms of minutes, but he still found the net, including a goal in the Copa Sudamericana. At the end of that year he moved again, this time to Sportivo Ameliano, once more without a transfer fee changing hands. He has held down a regular starting place there through the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Benítez has represented Paraguay at under-20 level. He is often listed alongside another Paraguayan of the same name, Miguel Ángel Benítez Pavón, a forward of an earlier generation who played at the 1998 World Cup — the two are not related, and it is the younger Benítez, born in 1997, who has built his career at Guaraní, Cerro Porteño and now Sportivo Ameliano.
