About the player
Miguel Tapias came up through Pachuca's academy from the age of eleven, working through the youth ranks before a loan spell at Mineros de Zacatecas gave him his first taste of senior football. He returned to Pachuca in 2018 and made his official debut for the club that July, eventually establishing himself as part of a squad that won the 2022 Apertura title and the CONCACAF Champions Cup in 2020–21. In February 2020 he was named to the Liga MX Team of the Week, a sign of the form that had made him a regular starter.
In 2023 he moved to Minnesota United on loan, signing a three-year deal with the MLS club. He went on to make 57 appearances in league play there, scoring once and setting up two further goals, while also featuring in the U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup.
Tapias joined Chivas in December 2024, signing a contract through the end of 2027. He has represented Mexico at U21 level without earning a senior cap so far.
