Yosuke Uchida

Yosuke Uchida made his name in Japanese schoolboy football before a single senior club came calling. At Aomori Yamada High School he was part of the side that beat Nagoya Grampus U-18 in the final of the 2019 Prince Takamado Cup, and the same generation went on to reach the final of the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, with Uchida picking up an Excellence Award at the 2019 Interhigh national tournament along the way.

University football followed rather than an immediate professional contract. Uchida spent four years at Meiji University from 2021, a spell that built the foundation for his move into the professional game without adding further team honours to his record. Tokyo Verdy signed him on a free transfer in February 2025, tying him to the club on a contract running to the middle of 2027.

His first season in the J1 League showed a player trusted from the outset: ten appearances, every one of them as a starter, for a total of 713 minutes on the pitch. Two yellow cards were the only blemish, with no goals or assists to his name in that spell. Among the matches that stood out was a 1-2 defeat to FC Tokyo in May and a 1-1 draw away to Kawasaki Frontale in August, results that reflected a Verdy side still finding its footing at the top level.
