Lifofane

Butha-Buthe sits in the northern highlands of Lesotho, and for two decades its football has run through Lifofane FC. The club took shape in 2005, and its ground work paid off in the 2018-19 season, when it went through the entire Northern Stream of the A-Division unbeaten, taking 46 points from 18 games and earning promotion to the Premier League. That run carried it to the final of the Nedbank Championship the same year, against Lijabatho FC, the Southern Stream winners.

The years that followed brought settling-in rather than silverware: 11th in 2021-22, 12th the following season, then two eighth-place finishes. The breakthrough came in 2025-26, when Lifofane finished second with 60 points from 18 wins, six draws and six losses, five points behind champions Lijabatho.

South African defender Kgotso Moleko joined in June 2026 after spells at Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu, bringing top-flight experience to a squad built mostly around home-grown attacking talent like Tumelo Njoti and Thato Manaba. On the touchline, Ghanaian coach Michael Amoh Platt took charge in September 2020.

Home games are played in blue at Butha-Buthe Field, where capacity runs to around 1,000, and the sharpest fixture on the calendar needs no European opponent: Butha-Buthe Warriors. Lifofane have yet to add a Premier League or Lesotho Cup title to their history — the 65 points scored by Lijabatho in 2025-26 stand five points clear of them.
