Motherwell U21

Motherwell's Under-21 squad shares Fir Park with the first team for its home matches and uses the Braidhurst Campus training base as well. The stadium holds 13,677, a scale built for senior football rather than development fixtures, and the young side turns out in the same claret and amber the club has worn since Alpha and Glencairn merged to form Motherwell on 17 May 1886.

The nickname The Steelmen comes from the ironworks and steel mills that once defined the town; supporters shorten it, as nicknames tend to get shortened, to The Well.

The honours the crest carries belong to the first team's history rather than any age-group side: a single Scottish top-flight title, won in 1931/32 and never repeated, with seven runner-up finishes behind it. The Scottish Cup came twice, in 1951/52 and 1990/91, and the League Cup once, in 1950/51.

None of that has been won by a Motherwell side wearing the number 21 shirt — that history is still to be made.
