Sopoti Librazhd

Political shorthand runs through the club's early history: five renamings between 1951 and 2007 track the changes Albania itself went through, from Puna Librazhd to Klubi Sportiv Albania Tabak Librazhd before the club settled on Klubi Futbollistik Sopoti Librazhd. Founded in Librazhd in 1948, the club took its lasting identity in 1967, when it adopted the name of Mount Sopot, overlooking the town, and with it the nickname Sopotarët still in use.

The 1990s remain the only period worth dwelling on. Promotion via the Kategoria e Parë in 1991–92 took Sopoti into the Kategoria Superiore for the first time, and a 12th-place finish in their debut season was followed by relegation, an immediate return, and an eighth-place finish in 1995–96 — still the club's best in the top flight. Relegation in 1997–98 ended that stretch, and Sopoti has not been back since; as of 2024–25 the club plays in the Kategoria e Dytë, the third tier.

Alpin Gallo passed through both sides of that history: he played for Sopoti in 1992–93 before a move to Tirana and nine caps for the national team, then returned to manage the club in 2016. Stadiumi Sopoti, home since the ground's earliest years, fell into such disrepair that Sopoti had to play its 2017–18 home fixtures elsewhere; renovation funded by the Albanian Football Association gave it a new natural pitch and reopened it in November 2018.

No fixture in Elbasan County carries the weight of an official derby, though matches against Elbasani and Gramshi supply the regional edge. It is a modest record for a club that, in red and white, has spent most of its 1948-year existence a division or two below where a single 1990s season once took it.
