Kolos Stadium
Kovalivka, Ukraine
The ground sits at the edge of Kovalivka, a village in Kyiv Oblast where the football club takes its name. Kolos Stadium is not a relic of the Soviet era, nor is it a city centre venue that has changed hands several times; it is a structure visible today that replaced the original facility that had opened in 2014. That original facility served the local team until the club’s promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League forced a change of pace. That promotion to the highest tier carried a requirement: the venue had to meet UEFA standards for European competition. The club’s owner, the agro-firm SvitanoK, funded the project, using the proceeds from their own agricultural business to raise the standard of the ground. The result is a compact bowl of terracotta plastic seats, as seen in the photographs. The pitch itself is natural grass, equipped with an automatic watering system and under-soil heating. Lighting has been installed to allow for television broadcasts, a necessity when the club moved up to play against Shakhter Karagandy in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers. The stadium is the only one of its kind in the village, located on 2a Dachna St.
