The Danish Women's Handball Super Cup is an annual fixture that marks the start of the national handball season. Organised by the professional league association, Divisionsforeningen, the event brings together the champions of the previous year's domestic league and cup competitions. The format is straightforward: a single match played in August or September determines the opening honours for the campaign. Should one team secure both major titles, the runner-up from the league takes the opposing side in the final.
Team Esbjerg holds the record for success in this tournament, claiming the title six times since the competition began in 2011. Their victories span from 2015 through to 2024, establishing them as the dominant force in these curtain-raiser matches. FCM Håndbold (Ikast) has also been a regular contender, lifting the trophy three times during the early years of the competition. Viborg HK and several other clubs have added to the list of winners over the past decade, though no other side has matched Esbjerg's tally.
The competition carries a commercial name each year, reflecting changing sponsorship agreements. For the 2025/2026 season, it is known as the Bambuni Super Cup, following previous iterations under the names Sparekassen Danmark Super Cup and HSM Industri Super Cup. The event serves a specific purpose within the Danish handball calendar, distinct from the multi-round Landspokalturnering or the round-robin league structure. It is a standalone contest with no replays or return legs.
Current Season Participants
The profile page lists Odense Women, NFH Women, and Esbjerg Women as key clubs involved in the wider context. However, the Super Cup itself is strictly defined by the qualification criteria of league and cup winners. Recent history shows Team Esbjerg defeating Nykøbing Falster Håndboldklub in the 2024 edition, securing their latest title with a victory. One edition was cancelled due to external circumstances in 2020, but the tournament has otherwise continued annually.
