Taca de Portugal 2025/26

The Taça de Portugal de Andebol defines the knockout path for Portuguese handball. Open to clubs from every tier, it allows lower-division sides to challenge the top-flight establishment in preliminary single-leg ties. The structure narrows as the season progresses, with elite teams entering in the Round of 32 or 16. The campaign concludes with a final four weekend at a neutral venue, featuring two semi-finals and a championship decider.

Sporting CP holds the record for success in this tournament. They have claimed the trophy twenty times, including the inaugural edition in 1972. Their dominance spans decades, with recent victories securing the current title. ABC Braga follows as the second most successful club with twelve titles, while FC Porto has won nine times. SL Benfica has added six to their collection.

The competition was established during the 1971–72 season by the Federação de Andebol de Portugal. The first final took place in Marinha Grande, where Sporting CP defeated FC Porto. The format remains consistent with a single-leg final, distinguishing it from the league championship which relies on a round-robin system. The cup stands as a secondary national title, offering a different route to glory than the Andebol 1 league.

In the most recent edition, Sporting CP defeated SL Benfica to retain the crown. The tournament path includes preliminary stages that filter teams before the knockout rounds intensify. Previous editions have faced interruptions, such as the cancellation of the 2019–20 season due to global events. The competition stands apart from the Supertaça de Andebol, which is contested between the league champion and cup winner in a separate fixture. This cup remains a primary objective for clubs seeking silverware outside the league standings.
