By then the visitors were already two points clear at fourth place, but this was a statement from the hosts nonetheless. They had been drawn at home for their league debut and delivered on it. The scoreline suggests a tight contest rather than a one-sided affair.
And here's the thing about the recent form. Kazotik had played five matches across various competitions, including a narrow 30:29 win and a 36:35 victory over Rostov. CSKA Moscow had also been busy with five games, winning four of them including a 26:22 result against Chekhovskie Medvedi.
To be fair, a three-goal margin in handball is rarely convincing. The visitors were out of sight by the final whistle but not by much. CSKA will need to convert more of their chances if they want to close the gap on the teams above them.
