Slovan moved further clear at the top of the EHF European League on Tuesday when they defeated Mors 36:30 in their second round fixture. The result leaves the visitors still unbeaten after two matches, while Mors dropped a valuable opportunity to climb higher in the table.
Slovan had already shown they could score freely in their previous outing, posting a 46:28 win against Skoflca. Mors, by contrast, had managed only a single victory from their opening two games — a 35:33 triumph over Tataubanya — before this evening's loss.
The visitors took control early and never really looked back. To be fair, Mors had shown they could compete in their home fixture against Tatabanya, but they paid for a sloppy opening here and never found their rhythm.
With four points from two matches, Slovan now hold a two-point cushion over their nearest challengers. Mors remain in third place with just two points, having secured one win and one draw so far this season.
The result also extends Slovan's winning streak to two consecutive matches, following their 31:26 victory over Trimo Trebnje. Mors' form has been inconsistent, with defeats against Sonderjyske and Nordsjaelland Handbold in their other recent outings.
