Diego Martín Rossi Marachlian

Diego Rossi arrived in Columbus already carrying a reputation built in Los Angeles: at LAFC he had scored the club's first-ever goal, won the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2019, and topped off a standout 2020 with the Golden Boot on 14 goals from 19 games, the Young Player of the Year award, and places on both the MLS Best XI and the CONCACAF Champions League Best XI. That run persuaded Fenerbahçe to sign him permanently after an initial loan, and in Turkey he added a domestic cup to his collection in the 2022–23 season.

His return to MLS with Columbus Crew in August 2023 came at a cost above $5.6 million plus add-ons, a fee that reflected the form he had shown on both sides of the Atlantic. It paid off quickly: he won the MLS Cup in his first season back and followed it with the Leagues Cup in 2024, wearing the number 10 shirt throughout that spell before switching to the number 9 upon a later move.

Rossi's path started at Solymar before Peñarol's academy shaped him as a teenager in Montevideo, and Uruguay tracked him through every youth level from the under-15s up, a progression capped by the CONMEBOL Under-20 Championship in 2017. His senior international appearances have been sparser by comparison, a handful of caps and a single goal, the modest tally of a forward whose club career has consistently outpaced his time with the senior national team.
