Darwin Cuero

Darwin Cuero came up through El Nacional's own academy, working his way from the under-12s to the reserves before making his first-team debut in 2013. He left the club in 2017 and moved on loan to América de Quito the following year, where he became first choice and made 43 appearances during the 2018 Serie B campaign.

He stayed with América into 2019, renewing his contract, before a mid-season loan took him to Aucas. He left the club at the end of the 2023 season.

A free transfer took him to Técnico Universitario in 2024, and in January 2025 he moved on again, this time to Macará, also on a free transfer. He made his debut for the club in Liga Pro Serie A and in the Copa Sudamericana.

Cuero has represented Ecuador only at youth level, with a single appearance at the 2011 South American U-17 Championship, two caps at the U-17 World Cup that same year, and five caps at the 2013 South American U-20 Championship. He was named as third-choice goalkeeper for a 2014 World Cup qualifier against Paraguay in 2013 but did not take the field, and he remains without a senior cap.
