About the player
David Karaev arrived in professional football through SKA-Energiya Khabarovsk before a string of moves took him through Crimea and the Volga region. He played for KAMAZ Naberezhnye Chelny between 2018 and 2020, where he was reworked from a midfielder into a forward. In the 2019/2020 season he finished as top scorer of the PFL "Urals-Volga" zone with 11 league goals in just 16 appearances, adding four more in the Russian Cup.
He played for SKA-Khabarovsk, where 14 goals in 37 matches were scored in the 2021/2022 campaign. Along the way he also picked up individual recognition away from Russia, being named FNL Player of the Month in August 2021 while on loan at Kaspiy Aqtau in Kazakhstan.
Karaev returned to KAMAZ for a second spell in 2024, scoring 11 goals in 39 appearances across two seasons there before his move to Spartak Kostroma. The transfer fee has been reported differently by different outlets, with one source citing around €100,000 and another describing the deal as undisclosed. He has signed a contract with Spartak Kostroma running until the summer of 2028, joining as a forward.
