E. del Villar

Everardo López del Villar came up through Toluca's own academy, moving from the U17 side into the U23 ranks before making his senior debut against Tigres UANL in April 2022. He never left. Rather than going out on loan to get minutes elsewhere, he stayed at Toluca and worked his way into a regular role, eventually earning a contract that runs to 2030.

A left-footed centre-back who can also play at left-back, del Villar had made more than 60 appearances for Toluca by late 2026 without registering a goal until August that year, when he scored against Necaxa. That patience paid off during a run in which the club won back-to-back Liga MX titles in the Clausura and Apertura of 2025, added the Campeón de Campeones for 2024/2025, and followed it with the Apertura 2026 title, the Leagues Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup. In that continental final run he scored in the semi-final against LAFC.

His form did not go unnoticed by the national team. After representing Mexico at U18, U19 and U20 level — including the 2025 U20 World Cup — and continuing through the U23s, he was called up to the senior side and made his debut in a friendly against Bolivia in January 2026, setting up a goal on the day. By the end of March that year he had earned three caps.
