About the player
Gael Camarena came up through Chivas de Guadalajara's academy, where he made his mark as a goalscoring midfielder: 14 goals in 28 matches for the Sub-16 side and 21 in 38 for the Sub-20 team. Chivas let him go in 2024, and he moved to Atlético de San Luis, where he played for the Sub-19 and Sub-23 sides and was part of the squad in the Liga MX U23 during the 2024/2025 season, adding nine goals across those categories.
In the summer of 2025 he joined León, initially slotting into the club's Sub-21 team in the Liga MX U21. By early 2026 he had established himself as the top scorer for León's U21 side, a run that also earned him a place training alongside the first team. He is now included on León's senior roster, though he has yet to make his debut in the professional Liga MX.
His path so far has been built on goals scored in development football, and the next step in his career is the one that has not yet arrived: a first appearance for León's first team.
