About the player
Guillermo Soto came through the youth ranks at Universidad Católica. He returned to Católica's side only to leave permanently for Palestino in early 2018, where he became a regular fixture and won the Copa Chile that year, beating Audax Italiano 4-2 on aggregate, as well as the Supercopa de Chile.
A move abroad followed in early 2022, when he joined Argentine side Huracán. He made five official appearances before his time in Kaliningrad ended in early 2024, and he returned to Universidad Católica that January, with the club taking on 75% of his rights. His first official start back at the club came against Ñublense in February 2024.
In June 2025 he was loaned out again, this time to Tigre, a move set up with the help of Diego Dabove, his former coach at Huracán. In Copa Argentina, Soto has featured in wins over Banfield and San Lorenzo and a defeat to Independiente Rivadavia, and he has also started a league draw against Independiente Rivadavia.
At international level, Soto made his debut for Chile on 16 November 2022, in a defeat to Poland. He then started against the Dominican Republic in June 2023, a match Chile won 5-0 and in which he provided an assist.
