About the player
He began at Barcelona S.C. before a loan spell in 2008 with Guayaquil City yielded six goals in seven appearances. A move to El Nacional followed, with a loan to Argentinos Juniors in Argentina producing five goals in 32 games.
In July 2013, Chicago Fire signed him as a Designated Player. He returned to Ecuador on loan at L.D.U. Quito in 2014, then spent two seasons with Leones Negros UdeG in Mexico before rejoining L.D.U. Quito permanently in 2016.
At Comunicaciones in Guatemala, he won the 2021 Liga Concacaf as top scorer with six goals, including a hat-trick in the final, and was named the competition's Best Player. He added the Clausura 2022 and Apertura 2023 titles with the club before a season at Honduran side C.D. Marathón.
Internationally, Anangonó has represented Ecuador, scoring against Trinidad and Tobago in a friendly in July 2017. He joined Leones FC, formerly Leones del Norte, in January 2026 following the club's rebranding and promotion to Ecuadorian Serie A.
