About the player
Lucas Margueron came up through Olympique Lyonnais, spending six years in the club's youth ranks before graduating to the reserve side, OL Lyon Duchère, where he also featured in the UEFA Youth League. A free transfer took him to Clermont Foot 63 in 2020, but first-team football never arrived there: across three seasons he was restricted to the reserves, making 37–38 appearances in National 3 and National 2 without a single competitive outing for the senior side.
The breakthrough came in Belgium. Margueron joined RFC Seraing in the Challenger Pro League in August 2023 and quickly established himself as first-choice goalkeeper, starting 39 league matches. That form was recognised in November 2024, when he was handed the Pro League's special golden jersey for the division's best clean-sheet ratio at the time, having kept four in eight matches.
His contract at Seraing expired in the summer of 2025, and he moved on a free transfer to Rodez AF, signing until 2028. At Rodez, Margueron arrives as backup goalkeeper rather than the guaranteed starter he had become in Belgium — a role reversal after three years of regular football.
