About the player
Nahuel Banegas came through Tigre's youth system before leaving to build his career elsewhere. He started out at Puerto Nuevo in the Primera D, making 24 appearances there, then moved to Villa Dálmine in the Primera Nacional. A loan to Central Córdoba (Santiago del Estero) in the second half of 2020 turned permanent when the club exercised its option to buy; he went on to make 24 appearances and score once there.
His move to San Martín (Tucumán) in early 2023 produced 56 appearances and ten goals from the back, a return that persuaded the club to exercise its purchase option that October and tie him down until 2026. He was presented at Tigre in July 2024 on an 18-month loan with an option to buy. His representative, Omar Esperón, put the loan fee at $250,000, though some reports framed the figure differently, as the equivalent of 18 months' salary.
He has not been capped by Argentina at any level, senior or youth, and has yet to win a major trophy in his career.
