Steffen Yeates

Steffen Yeates plays for a country his career did not begin in. Born in Toronto, he came through Vaughan SC and the Toronto FC Academy before college spells with UConn and Oregon State, then worked his way up through Toronto FC's third and second sides and a loan appearance in MLS with the first team in 2022. It was a move to Pacific FC in December 2022 that turned into his breakthrough: 64 matches across two seasons, two goals, five assists, and a spot in the CPL's Team of the Week during 2023.

That form carried him to York United on a free transfer in January 2025, where he made 20 league appearances and three goals in his first season, followed by 18 appearances, two goals and three assists in 2026 for what is now Inter Toronto FC.

The more striking turn came on the international stage. Yeates had already represented Canada at U-17 and U-20 level, scoring against Martinique at the 2018 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, but he switched allegiance to Trinidad and Tobago and made his senior debut for them on June 8, 2024, in a 7-1 win over the Bahamas. His first goal at that level came on March 21, 2025, against Cuba in a Gold Cup qualification playoff. By early 2026 he had earned ten senior caps for Trinidad and Tobago.
