Segundo Arlen Portocarrero Rodríguez

Segundo Portocarrero came through the youth ranks at LDU Quito and Independiente del Valle before joining C.S. Emelec in 2014. He was part of Emelec's squad during their 2015 Serie A title win, but that medal came from the sidelines: he had yet to break into the first team. Promotion followed in 2016, when he made his professional debut in the Copa Sudamericana against LDU Quito, and a first-team championship arrived in 2017.

What followed was a long stretch of being farmed out. Between 2018 and 2021, Emelec sent him out on loan four times running — to Guayaquil City, C.D. Cuenca, Delfín S.C. and C.S.D. Macará. A permanent move to Orense S.C. in 2022 saw the club take on half of his playing rights, before Barcelona S.C. signed him outright in 2023.

Loaned to Universitario de Deportes in Peru in January 2024, Portocarrero won the Peruvian Primera División title with the club. His Barcelona S.C. contract was rescinded afterwards, and he moved on to Chadormalou Ardakan in Iran for the 2025–2026 season. He returned home in March 2026, signing for Leones del Norte.

A left-footed midfielder who operates as a left winger or left-back, Portocarrero has yet to earn a senior cap for Ecuador.
