Nordsjælland Håndbold turned up at the 2011–12 Final 4 in the Danish Cup for the first time, having beaten Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in the quarterfinal to get there. The club had already tested itself abroad, opening its EHF Cup campaign against Hapoel Rishon LeZion of Israel and reaching the quarterfinals before Naturhouse La Rioja ended the run.

The club was formed in 2006 when the first teams of Team Helsinge and Hillerød HK merged, and by 2008–09 Helsingør Elite 3000 had joined the partnership, spreading NSH across three home towns in Northern Zealand rather than one. Matches have been played in Helsinge-Hallen and in Helsingør's hall, and the club still carries lime green and black as its colours from that period.

NSH won the 1. Division in 2016–17 to go up, only to be relegated at the end of 2019–20 after the pandemic forced the league to suspend its season. A Danish Championship or Cup has not followed either promotion.
