Aris

For one season, 1987–88, Aris Thessaloniki belonged among Greece's elite handball clubs. The men's team had gone up as champions of the B Ethniki the year before, with Sokratis Skoufas and Christos Tzouvaras leading a squad coached by Dimitris Skoufas, only to finish twelfth in the top flight and drop straight back down.

The handball department grew out of a decision by club president Christos Michaelides and basketball supervisor Fanis Tarnatourou to add the sport to Aris in 1984, taking on the parent club's colours and its "Yellow-Blacks" nickname. Since that one season at the top, the men's side has moved between the second and third tiers, dissolving and re-forming more than once — most recently in 2013–14 — and now plays in the B Ethniki.

No Greek Championship or Cup sits in the club's handball cabinet. What silverware there is belongs to the youth ranks: the boys' team took the Panhellenic title in 2005, the girls' in 2010, alongside a run of regional Northern Greece age-group championships stretching from 2004 to 2022. Played out at the Mikras 3 Indoor Hall, home to just 1,380 spectators.
