«Feta Ipiros»
Arta sits in Epirus, closer to the Ionian coast than to Athens, and for decades its name in Greek handball has meant one club. Anagennisi Arta's football section had already existed for years when, in 1987, the town's sports society set up a women's handball team.
From 1995 to 2006 Anagennisi Arta won twelve straight Greek championships. The cups followed the same pattern: ten domestic cup titles between 1998 and 2008. Feta Ipiros , the nickname the club plays under, comes from the dairy company that has sponsored it.
Lamprini Tsàkalou came through the club between 2008 and 2010, early in a career that took her on to AEK and into the national team. The European campaigns have been shorter chapters by comparison: a run to the third round of the EHF European Cup Women in 2023-24, alongside earlier appearances in the Cup Winners' Cup and the Challenge Cup.
