Drott

Bengt Johansson played for Drott through the 1970s, then took over as coach in the 1980s and led the club to five championships before Sweden's national team came calling for him.

The club started as something else entirely: four 13-year-olds, Lars-Erik Dymne, Erik Månsson, Arvid Fridh and Ingvar Svensson, put together a football team in Halmstad in March 1936. Handball took over within the club, and by September 1940 the football section was gone and the name had changed to reflect it. Drott dropped to Division 3 in 1945, before a new sports hall in 1956 gave the club somewhere to build from.

Two European finals came in the same stretch — the Cup Winners' Cup in 1989–90 and the Challenge Cup in 1993–94 — both lost.

It did survive, and by 2021–22 it had won Division 1 Södra, returning to Allsvenskan the following season — eleven championships behind it, and a top flight to prove itself in again.
