«Kometal»
The biggest trophy came in 2002, when the club, competing under its sponsor's name of Kometal, won the EHF Champions League, beating Ferencvárosi TC of Hungary 27-25 at home and 26-22 away for a 51-49 aggregate. No other Macedonian women's handball club has taken a European title since. The same year brought the Champions Trophy, and the club reached two further Champions League finals, in 2000 and 2005, without repeating the win.
That run grew out of a side founded in 1979 as ŽRK Gjorche Petrov, which took the Kometal name once the sponsorship arrived and, with it, an unbroken run of Macedonian Superleague titles from 1993 to 2009 - seventeen years without losing the league - alongside a near-identical sweep of the domestic cup. Financial trouble shut the club down altogether in 2011. A new side was formed under the original name to carry the same yellow and black forward.
It took more than a decade to get back to the top: the league title returned in 2022 and has been kept every year since, the cup followed in 2024, and both were won together in 2024 and 2025. The hall in Skopje where they now play, Kocho Racin, holds 1,000. Ferencváros, beaten in that 2002 final, is still the name against which any run in Europe gets measured.
