Ask around Karagöl who coached Göle Belediyespor through its best run and the same seasons come up: 2021–22 and 2022–23, back-to-back titles in the Ardahan 1st Amateur League that made the club the most decorated side in the competition's history, five championships in all since its first in the 2010–11 season. Founded in 2000, the club spent years building toward that record before any of the trophies arrived.
Each title came with the same reward and the same wall behind it: promotion to the Kars Regional Amateur League, the tier where Göle Belediyespor's story has stalled three times over. The club went up in 2010–11, again in 2012–13, and reached the league once more in 2013–14, only to finish bottom of the table, fourteenth, and drop back down. A run in the Turkish Cup preliminary rounds that same season, against Karsspor, ended the same way — out before the tournament proper began.
The club wears red and white, and its true test has always been the gap between winning Ardahan and surviving Kars. Nobody has closed it yet.
Home is the 80. Yıl Cumhuriyet Stadyumu in the Karagöl neighbourhood, a ground with room for 3,500 that still empties out fast once the whistle blows on another season decided somewhere higher up the pyramid.
