Hjs Akatemia Women

There is no rival waiting across town for HJS Akatemia Women — Hämeenlinna has no second club of its size. For most of its existence the women's side sat in Naisten Ykkönen or Kakkonen, the second and third tiers. The shift came after 2015, when the academy structure was set up alongside the men's HJS Akatemia. The team spent the following two seasons chasing the play-off route instead, and got there in 2026, going up through the promotion play-offs rather than the league table.

HJS itself dates to the autumn of 1999, formed by merging three youth clubs — HPK, HäPa and Pallo-Kärpät — into a single Hämeenlinna outfit, with the women's academy following as a later branch rather than a founding part of that merger.

Home games are played at Kaurialan kenttä, a ground that holds 1,500: 1,000 on the main stand and 500 on the B-stand, enough for a club whose season now runs, for the first time, in the country's top division.
