Nadine Wehrli scored 121 goals in a single 2. Liga Group 1 campaign, carrying KTV Wil Women out of the division and into the 1. Liga, the third tier of Swiss handball.
That production line runs through Wil's cooperation with the Mädchensekundarschule St. Katharina, the girls' secondary school whose name gave the club's female youth and junior sides their working title, Kathi.
The clearest proof of that came through Stephanie Haag, who came up through the club before leaving for LC Brühl and then LK Zug, and went on to win 55 caps for the Swiss national team between 2009 and 2016. Brühl remains the club women's handball in Switzerland measures itself against nationally, though not as a rival Wil actually meets on the scoresheet.
The rivalry that matters locally is with HC Flawil, with attendances at some matches reported around 400. Uzwil sits closer to a partner than an opponent, the two clubs running shared youth structures, while TV Appenzell makes up the third regional name in the mix.
