Robert Soukup has guarded the goal long enough to be the name people reach for when Liberec handball comes up, in the 1. liga mužů.
What it has instead is a fixture that matters more locally than any trophy would: the Podještědské derby against Jablonec handball, named for the Ještěd massif that sits between the two towns and gives the rivalry its only real stakes each season.
The setup underneath the men's team is where the club puts its effort — categories running from five-year-old mini-players up through the senior side.
