Maccabi Avishai Motzkin

Founded in 1960, Maccabi Avishai Motzkin has never taken the Israeli Premier League or the State Cup. The closest it came was a State Cup semi-final in 2010–11, and it once tested itself abroad in the 2000–01 European Cup. None of that reads as a breakthrough so much as a long, level line.

The roster over the years leaned heavily on imports from the Balkans — Bratislav Stanković, Nenad Mandić, Dušan Bozoljac among them. Alon Cohen held the goal for long enough to be remembered specifically for it, rather than as one name among the club's goalkeepers.

Home games are played in front of 750 seats, a number small enough that the fixture drawing the biggest crowd is not a title decider but the Krayot Derby against Hapoel Kiryat Ono — two clubs a few kilometres apart in the same urban cluster, for whom local bragging rights carry more weight on the night than the league table. Motzkin continues in the Ligat Winner, still measured against that same neighbour more than against the clubs above it in the standings.
