Promotion to the Kadınlar Süper Ligi in 2025–26 came the hard way for Odunpazarı. The club had already sealed the Türkiye Kadınlar Hentbol 2. Ligi title in 2023–24 by going through the regular season unbeaten before winning the playoffs outright, and the following year it did the same in the 1. Lig, finishing the regular phase with ten wins and three draws and no defeats. Promotion itself was decided at the Final Four, where Eskişehir's side finished runners-up but still went up a division. The opening weeks of the new Super League campaign brought a first win, 29-28 against Ankara Yurdumspor.

None of that has yet translated into a national title at the top level; the club's honours so far belong to the divisions below it. President Evren Olcay has pointed instead to the academy as the base of the project, saying the squad is built largely from players who came through Odunpazarı's own youth ranks.

The team plays under the nickname "Şehrin Kızları" — the City's Girls. It is run through the Odunpazarı Municipality, under Mayor Kazım Kurt, and matches are played at the Mehmet Terzi Spor Salonu, a hall in the city's Ihlamur Kent district that holds 713 spectators. Local reporting has described the team's colours as black and red, though the same shades are also associated with Eskişehirspor, the city's football club.

Eskişehir Hentbol SK provides the closest local rivalry, though the two sides have often sat in different divisions rather than meeting regularly. Odunpazarı Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü itself dates back to 1968.
