The Turkish Women's Handball Super League serves as the premier professional women's handball competition in Turkey, operating at the apex of the national pyramid. Administered by the Turkey Handball Federation, the tournament traces its origins to the 1978–79 season, when it began as the Turkish Women's First League before undergoing a name change to reflect its elite status.
The structure of the campaign relies on a double round-robin regular season, ensuring every side faces each opponent both home and away. This format establishes the foundation for subsequent stages, where performance dictates progression. Following the initial phase, the leading entities advance to a playoff period. These knockout sections frequently utilize best-of-three series for early matches, reserving best-of-five formats for the decisive final encounters. Alternatively, a multi-round league configuration may be employed during these crucial weeks.
The competitive landscape includes provisions for movement between tiers. The team finishing at the bottom of the regular season table is relegated to the Turkish Women's Handball First League. In return, two clubs ascend from that lower division to maintain the squad size. Historically, the league has seen fluctuations in participant numbers, starting with ten teams in the 2024–25 campaign before settling into an eight-team arrangement for the 2025–26 season.
Success within this arena is measured primarily through the trophy cabinet. T.M.O. Ankara holds the record for the most victories, having secured eight titles throughout the competition's history. The current reigning champions are Bursa BB Women, who claimed the title for the 2025–26 season. Victory in this league provides a direct pathway to European competition, with the champion earning eligibility for the EHF Champions League, often contingent upon a wildcard application due to regional coefficient rankings.
