PAOK Women

PAOK Women enter the 2026-27 A1 Ethniki as champions and cup holders, arriving off a league-and-cup double under coach Dimitris Pelekidis and a Super Cup won on top of it. Seven players from the squad were called up to the Greek national team for the Euro 2026 qualifiers.

The handball department was founded in 2007, took promotion out of B' Ethniki almost immediately, and needed two seasons in A2 before reaching the top flight in 2010-11. Since then it has taken seven championships and eight Greek Cups, the most recent of each arriving in 2026. Vasia Gatziou was named MVP of the 2020-21 championship, Maria Chatziparasidou took the equivalent honour the following season, and Milica Grbavcevic was voted the league's best defender in 2025-26 — a run of individual awards that has tracked the team's rise to the top of the table.

Home matches are played in front of 1,380 seats at Mikra Indoor Arena III. The fixture that still draws the city's attention is against AEK Athens, billed locally as the Derby of the Two-Headed Eagles, since both clubs carry the Byzantine double-headed eagle as their emblem and nickname.
