Ruswil/Wolhusen/Nottwil Women

Ruswil is a market town in the Lucerne hinterland, the kind of place where a handball hall next to the primary school counts as civic infrastructure. The women's team that plays under its name is not, strictly speaking, one club: SG Ruswil/Wolhusen brings together HC Fides Ruswil and TV Wolhusen, and in competitions it appears as Ruswil/Wolhusen/Nottwil, reflecting a further arrangement with HC Spono Nottwil that lets players move between rosters.

HC Fides Ruswil dates to 1964, decades before the merger that produced today's side, and the joint venture carries no founding date of its own; it is simply how women's handball in this corner of Lucerne is now organised.

The team plays at the Sporthalle Wolfsmatt in Ruswil, with the town's Mehrzweckhalle taking some fixtures when the calendar is tight. There is no showcase venue for handball here; the hall does the job without ceremony.

Competitively, Ruswil/Wolhusen/Nottwil sits in the 2. Liga, having also spent seasons in the 3. Liga below it. There is no run of promotions or a cup final to point to; the side has entered the Schweizer Cup, reaching the Hauptrunde in the 2023/24 edition, and otherwise gets on with league business each autumn and spring.

None of it is built for headlines. It is a town side, run jointly because no one town had enough for its own, still turning up sixty-two years after Fides first put a team on the floor in 1964.
