The Dobeles sporta centrs holds 730 people, a hall on Tērvetes iela that has stayed the club's home through every version of its name. Handball in the town started in 1996 as Spodriba HSK Dobele, switched to HSK Tenax/Volvo Truck within a year, and has played under the Tenax banner since 2007.

Tenax has taken the Latvian Handball League title nine times — 1999, then a run of titles from 2014 through 2023 broken only by a runners-up finish to Rīgas Celtnieks in 2017. The Latvian Cup has gone the same way in miniature, with Tenax edging Celtnieks 56–55 on aggregate in 2008 and beating them again in the 2021 final.

Head coach Sandris Versakovs has overseen the club through its most recent stretch of titles, and long-serving players such as Oskars Arājs have carried the Dobele shirt across much of that run. Beyond Latvia, Tenax has pushed into European competition more than once, reaching the round of 32 of the EHF European Cup in the 2021–22 season and the round of 16 of the EHF Challenge Cup two seasons earlier.
