Four league titles in a row settled this club's recent story before anything else did: 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, each one won under the SynotTip Virslīga banner and each one carrying the club's full identity in its name, Armijas sporta klubs paired with the Murjāņi Sports Gymnasium. The current season has tested the streak: ASK/MSĢ reached the Higher League final against Dobeles Tenax and the series stood at 2-2 heading into a decisive fifth match.

The club's roots reach back further than the recent trophies suggest, through earlier guises such as HK ASK Riga, ASK/LSPA and MSĢ/LAT-2000. Under the ASK Riga name, the team once ruled the Baltic Handball League, taking the regional title in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2007.

Arnolds Straume leads the team now, and the roster draws on Murjāņi's own gymnasium pipeline, with Valdis Kalniņš among the players who have carried that development system into senior handball. A second team, ASK/MSĢ II, plays in the Latvian First League.

Ulbroka SK remains the team most often standing in the way domestically, though no named rivalry has grown around the fixture. Home matches are played in the NBS Sporta kluba zāle, the hall run by the National Armed Forces Sports Club, on Krustabaznīcas iela in Riga.
